Trichoscopic patterns of scarring alopecia

Scarring alopecia is considered a group of hair diseases for which there has currently been a large field of research. There are multiple tools that can be used when performing a diagnostic algorithm, such as trichoscopy, histopathological study, and confocal microscopy, however some of these have cost disadvantages, in the case of biopsy taking, as it is an invasive method, therefore, trichoscopy has been an accessible, inexpensive, non-invasive method that can be performed at the time of the consultation, in order to obtain a more specific diagnosis and be able to provide timely treatment. The importance of knowing and identifying trichological patterns early for alopecia, specifically scarring alopecia, lies in being able to identify data that can prevent the progression of the disease, especially in reversible stages.
